August is all about birds! BAC is proud to exhibit a selection of birdhouses designed by artists and made by the skilled woodworkers at Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN).
BARN offered a free class that paired artists with woodworkers—an excellent example of community collaboration.
Other artists will join the party with terrific painting, photography, sculpture and pottery from Jan Hurd, Yuko Ishii, Nancy Reithaar, Mike Zitka, Marilyn Place, Jo Reid ceramics, and Sheri Worth.

Pattern
September at BAC
We are looking at Patterns in works of art this September. It can be a recurring sequence of shapes or lines or colors or textures. These patterns can be predictable or completely surprising. They can create a harmony and rhythm and often provide a structure to the work of art. Patterns can be overt and obvious, but they can also be just a faint echo of other visual elements in the piece.

The Figure Simplified

It can take years to learn to draw the figure, but this inventive course speeds up the process by getting to the heart of what you really need to know to feel confident sketching people whether working from life, a photograph, or your imagination. This course combines techniques found in gesture drawing and fashion illustration to teach you how to render believable, expressive figures in graphite and ink.
